Essential Eats: The Cyprus Tree

Positioned in the popular Bay Lane strip of eateries The Cyprus Tree is a treasured local favourite. Conveniently located in centre of town this busy strip provides a great atmosphere whether you’re cozying up for an intimate night out or casually dining.

The Greek Cypriot menu of Cyprus Tree is influenced by Greek, Turkish, Lebanese and Middle Eastern flavours. Their reputation for fresh seafood is second to none. The menu also caters for vegetarians with comprehensive range of dishes to suit everyone.

For entrées, it’s hard to go past the Sheftalia (when available), the delicious house-made lamb and pork sausage, served over rice is simply divine. Seafood lovers will melt at the Grilled Moreton Bay Bugs and if you’re looking for something light the Mixed Entrée For Two delivers a range of marinated olives & feta, roasted pepper mix, grilled haloumi, zucchini & haloumi fritters, dolmades, dips & pita bread.

For mains, we implore you to try the Seafood Mezzare for two, consisting of grilled fish, octopus, calamari, prawns, scallops served over Mediterranean rice with roast pepper, eggplant & zucchini mix, Greek salad, tzatziki & taramosalata dips. Or if you want to experience a Greek classic then it’s hard to go past the Moussaka or a Traditional Mezzare plater for two.

As a BYO venue with a bottleshop at The Beach Hotel nearby grab something light like a Chardonay or Pinot Grigio to compliment the seafood or a Merlot for the more meaty and heavier dishes. Book ahead as seating is limited and you’ll want to make sure you get in.
